This double-sided map details the trail from Jiri to Namche Bazaar. An excellent alternative to flying to or from Lukla, this 7-day trek (about 5 extra days) is quite challenging, with frequent ascents and descents, often leaving you lower than your starting point by the end of the day. However, many trekkers enjoy passing through numerous small villages along the way. Andrees de Ruiter and Prem Rai conducted a survey in December 2013, gathering GPS data from many new (though sometimes basic) lodges, which were then added to the 2014 edition. This allows for greater flexibility in deciding when to stop for the day. Since flights from Lukla are often canceled due to bad weather, this map can guide you to walk down to Jiri or Sallerie to catch a bus or Jeep and then a flight from Kathmandu.
The back side provides a comprehensive view of the upper Khumbu, from Trashi Lapsa in the west to Island Peak in the east, including the Gokyo and Everest Base Camp (EBC) treks. It features the three passes: Renjo La, Cho La, and Kongma La, as well as Mera Peak and Amphu Labsa to the south. This map is more complete than NE 517 and NE 519. Though slightly more expensive due to being double-sided, it is a highly recommended choice!
